Method
 

  1. Season the sirloin steak with chili powder, cumin, garlic salt, and black pepper. Squeeze the lime halves over the steak.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook steak for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly.
  3. Spread refried beans and mayonnaise on the split sides of the hoagie rolls.
  4. Layer the sliced steak, Monterey Jack cheese, sliced tomatoes, and shredded lettuce onto the bottom half of each roll.
  5. Add any optional toppings like avocado, red onions, or jalapeños. Drizzle with hot sauce if desired.
  6. Place the top half of the roll over the fillings and serve immediately.

Notes

You can toast the hoagie rolls before assembling for extra texture.
